FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Below you'll find answers to some of our most asked questions.

Do you have parking?

There are a few off-road spaces just in front of our restaurant on Wilmslow Road. The spaces are for 2 hours only, and no return within 1 hour.

There are more off-road parking spaces on the side of our restaurant, on Tatton Grove. They are for permit holders only Mon-Fri 8am-6pm. After 6pm you can park as long as you like.

Could I have my reservation on the ground floor?

We always aim to seat our guests on the ground floor whenever possible. However, to ensure equal accessibility, priority is given to customers with mobility issues or disabilities. Please request a ground-floor booking only if it is genuinely needed; otherwise, your table may be allocated on any floor of the restaurant.

Can we bring our own alcohol?

We don’t have an alcohol license for our restaurant. Please feel free to bring your own alcohol. The corkage charge for wine/spirit is £3, and beer/ciders is £1.

We don’t allow guests to bring any of their own food or other non-alcoholic drinks into our venue.

Do you cater for allergies/ dietary restrictions?

We love inclusivity and would love all our guests to feel welcome at Lotus. We feel strongly that people with allergies should be able to enjoy dining out as much as anybody else. We try our best to accommodate, however, whilst we make every effort to control allergens, cross contamination may occur as we work in close proximity of allergens in our kitchen. Please speak to our staff to clarify if our dishes are suitable for you.

Why do you have animal product names on your menu?

This is a question we hear often from our customers, and we love sharing our thoughts! Many people choose a plant-based or vegan lifestyle for religious, ethical, or personal reasons, and we often have guests who want to enjoy the flavours of traditional dishes, but in a plant-based way. Using familiar dish names helps people understand what they’re ordering.

For example, “Sweet and Sour Chicken” is a globally recognised dish. We keep the name simple while clearly noting that no real chicken is used—only plant-based alternatives. Calling it something like “Sweet and Sour Soy Protein” could make it difficult for some customers to know what the dish is inspired by.

At the same time, we face a dilemma: some customers prefer not to see animal names in the menu, such as “Roasted Eel Skewers”  and would rather the dish be called “Roasted beancurd sheets.” However, this can be confusing for other guests who are familiar with the traditional names and flavours they are expecting.

Our goal is to balance clarity and authenticity, making sure everyone can enjoy our dishes without confusion.

Do you deliver?

We do not have our own drivers.

We work with Deliveroo for our deliveries. Please check on the App if the Deliveroo riders would deliver to you as we are not able to check this for you.

Do you take takeaway orders?

Yes! Please call us on 01616378190 to make a takeaway order for collection.

Do you have gluten-free options?

Yes, we have a few gluten-free options on our menu.

Please note, we cannot guarantee no cross-contamination for any gluten-free items that require deep-frying, as generally we only use one deep fryer to fry our food.

Please speak to our staff for more information and to see how best to accommodate for you.

Do you offer catering for private events or booking for large parties?

Yes! Please get in touch with more details about your event, and we will be able to advise on the catering options available.

Why do you not use any onion/garlic etc in your dishes?

We don’t use onion, chives, garlic etc. to honour specific religious practices and dietary traditions that avoid these ingredients, as well as personal preferences. Instead, we use other aromatic spices, fresh herbs and skilled-cooking techniques to ensure our dishes remain just as flavourful!
